With the opening of the new school year and the massive transfer of pupils by bus to and from their schools, the police announced the start island-wide control campaign bus carrying students.
The campaign will run from 12 to 30 September 2011.
Among other things, controls on alcohol consumption by drivers, speed limit, seat belt use, number of passengers and documents that should be completed by the drivers.

Με την ευκαιρία της έναρξης της νέας σχολικής χρονιάς και τη μαζική μεταφορά μαθητών με λεωφορεία, από και προς τα σχολεία τους, η Αστυνομία ανακοινώνει την έναρξη παγκύπριας εκστρατείας ελέγχου λεωφορείων που μεταφέρουν μαθητές.
Η εκστρατεία θα διαρκέσει από τις 12 μέχρι και τις 30 Σεπτεμβρίου 2011.
Ανάμεσα σε άλλα, οι έλεγχοι θα αφορούν την κατανάλωση αλκοόλης από τους οδηγούς, το όριο ταχύτητας, τη χρήση ζώνης ασφαλείας, των αριθμό των επιβατών και τα έγγραφα που θα πρέπει να συμπληρώνονται από τους οδηγούς.
During the recent Police and European Traffic Police Network (TIPSOL) campaign checking buses for offences, 346 vehicles were checked and 33 offences detected.

Cyprus Police will be involved in a EU wide campaign targeting public transport vehicles. In particular the vehicles speed, speed-limiting devices, the tachographs, working hours and the mechanical condition of vehicles will be checked.
